Planning a Presentation? Check-out Lane End’s new high-tech data projectors.
To ensure clients benefit from the latest conferencing technology we have updated our classic projectors with the latest generation of digital projectors.
The Christie LW401 data projectors are amongst the most advanced digital projection systems in the world.
Sporting Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technology, these projectors pack an incredible visual punch and are ideal for bringing business and training presentations to life.
• Better and brighter pictures – Delivering 4,000+ lumens (1,000 more than our previous projectors) our new data projectors emit an amazing amount of light, so images and graphics are consistently bolder and brighter
• High impact, wide-screen format – Giving PowerPoint presentations a truly professional edge and making content stand out
• Greater flexibility – Our new projectors are wireless so clients can add content from multiple devices including iPads, laptops and USB sticks.
As well as saving time setting up this means presenters don’t need to be fixed to one spot and can engage and interact with their audience more.
Combined with our free 100Mbps ultrafast broadband, Lane End Conference Centre has everything clients’ need for delivering powerful, picture-perfect presentations.

3-2-1 Action! Broadcasting your business conference live is great way to communicate to colleagues, clients and followers in real time.
But how do you go about reaching and holding on to your audience?
At Lane End Conference Centre, located within half an hour’s drive of Heathrow, we’re an experienced hand at helping top international companies deliver quality conference broadcasts.
Here’s five tactics to help make your live stream a hit:
1. ‘Testing, testing’: Clear audio and picture is a must. For smaller, informal webcasts, a laptop with inbuilt microphone, audio and camera will suffice.
However, for large conferences with lots of participants, it is advisable to use external video conferencing hardware to ensure perfect vision and sound.
Test your equipment thoroughly beforehand and remember to check the output on multiple devices – not just laptops – but tablets and mobiles too.
High-speed broadband: Ensure your conference venue has high-speed internet connection – this is essential to ensure a steady, consistent live stream.
Lane End’s free A+ rated broadband has a guaranteed top speed of 100Mbps, enabling smooth video conferencing with multiple locations worldwide.
2. Get social: Start promoting your live broadcast on social media at least a week in advance.
As well as colleagues, ask speakers, organisers, delegates, and even your entertainment, to plug your event too.
3. Spice up your landing page: Make your conference’s landing page as appealing and interesting as possible.
Biographies, background information and download documents will encourage viewers to stay tuned. Also make it easy for people to share your content with visible social sharing buttons.
4. Involve your audience: Debating something contentious? Conduct a live poll to find out what your audience thinks. Holding a Q&A session? Take questions from online viewers and publish the answers online at the end.

Working away from home doesn’t mean you have to abandon your usual health and fitness regime.
Here are Lane End Conference Centre’s top tips for staying fitness focussed this conference season.
• Don’t be tempted to overindulge – One aspect of conference attendance that everyone notices is the variety and quantity of food available.
If you have some downtime, try not to pick at the cakes and pastries on offer and go for fresh or dried fruit instead.
For main meals, stick to smaller portions and add plenty of vegetables. Also go-easy on calorific alcoholic beverages.
• Pack healthy snacks – Don’t compromise on your diet. Opt for fresh fruit during break times and for dessert. If you think you might fall off the healthy eating wagon, pack nutritious snacks, such as, almonds and hazelnuts or pumpkin seeds for when you’re feeling peckish.
• Plan your exercise routine – If you normally work out before or after work, use the conference venue’s facilities at the same time. Also, try not to accept impromptu invitations that will interfere with your gym schedule.
• Team-building activities – Plenty of UK conference venues, including Lane End, run energetic team-building activities.
If you can’t face the gym, challenge colleagues to a game of five-a-side football or arrange a fun fuelled ‘It’s-a-Knockout’ tournament.
Lane End Conference Centre in Buckinghamshire offer a range of top quality sports facilities and equipment to stay in shape, including rowing machines, treadmills, exercise bikes, strength training equipment, sauna and steam room and more.
Our new purpose-built leisure facility complete with comfy lounge, bar and outdoor terrace, will open in early 2015.

Steve Kader of Lane End’s Maintenance Team completed the Flete Half Marathon in May.
Competing to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, Steve came 39th of the 218 participants, finishing the multi-terrain course in an impressive two hours and four minutes.
Steve said: “Having completed the Fan Dance Race in the Brecon Beacons last year I was keen to set myself another challenge. The Flete half marathon was ideal as it covered lots of tough terrain and took in some amazing coastal scenery.”
The 14.2 mile route – categorised as ‘strenuous’ – started on the Flete Estate in Mothcombe South Devon and included steep coastal paths and beach crossings.
Heni Fourie, Sales and Marketing Manager at Lane End Conference Centre, said; “Well done Steve from all of us on completing the Flete half marathon, it’s an incredible achievement. We look forward to hearing about your next challenge!”
At the final count, Steve has raised more than £500 in sponsorship via friends, family and colleagues at Lane End.
From an army background, Steve has worked at Lane End Conference Centre, Buckinghamshire for over five years.
Steve says one of the best aspects of his roles is being outdoors and maintaining the grounds – and with 26-acres of parkland, including a 9-hole golf course, there’s plenty to enjoy!

Conferences are a great way to meet colleagues, find out what’s new in your professional field and hopefully enjoy a little down time.
One aspect delegates often comment on is the amount and variety of delicious food that’s on offer.
Sticking to healthy eating habits while you’re on business needn’t be hard – try Lane End Conference Centre’s tips for starters:
Downsize your plate – Who isn’t tempted to load a large plate with buffet fare? However, you can instantly reduce your portion size by using a smaller side plate.
Make healthy choices – All-butter pastries and cakes are in abundance at conference breaks.
Swap these for fresh fruit, yoghurt or a cereal-based treat, such as a flapjack or granola bar.
For main meals, Lane End’s Executive Head Chef, Mike Day, said: “Whether we are preparing a fresh working buffet or three-course gala dinner, we always ensure our conference catering includes tasty, low-calorie options.
“To maintain a healthy diet, go for leaner meats such as chicken and turkey, or fish based dishes with plenty of fresh vegetables.”
Where’s the gym? If your residential conference centre has a gym and other leisure facilities, make the most of them.
Squeeze in a morning workout or plan a game of golf or tennis to round off the day.
Strike a balance – If you’re sticking to healthier meal choices throughout your stay, don’t deny yourself dessert once in a while!
Lane End offers state-of-the-art conference facilities combined with the finest, freshest, meeting catering.

About 2,500 years ago Confucius said:
“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand”
And that’s as true today as it was then, I’m not quite as old as Confucius – but teachers were still allowed to smoke in classrooms, when I was at school!
And the only thing I can remember now from 5 years of Grammar School chemistry lessons, is the day that some of my more expert and attentive chemistry class mates, mixed a tobacco mixture which exploded in Chalky White’s pipe when he set a match to it. That’s the power of an experience.
So about 50 years later I’m still convinced that the best way to reinforce learning and to help delegates really understand team work and leadership is to design experiences that replicate all the issues found in the workplace, but in a non-threatening yet challenging environment.
Here are the three key lessons, that crop up time and time again through experiential learning experiences:
1. Leaders learn to understand their preferred style and how to adapt in order to cope with different situations
2. They experience the power of trust and see the potential benefits when empowering team members and giving them credit for success.
3. They develop through experience a belief that by being passionate and visionary they will encourage innovation and creativity to achieve results.
Hi5 Events worked closely with Lane End Conference Centre to develop a range of experiential challenges, that are permanently fixed and part of the beautiful Chilterns landscape.
We work with various clients and training professionals to design experiences and facilitate learning, which reinforces the lessons from the classroom sessions.
Just imagine the unforgettable messages that can be delivered on problem solving, communication, leadership, team working, role allocation and more.

Congratulations to Lane End’s Conference and Events Executive, Hannah Field, who ran the London Marathon this weekend.
Running with her sister Debbie, Hannah joined 36,000 other participants to pound the capital’s streets in this major annual fundraising event.
Competing for a cause close to their hearts, the sisters ran for Action on Bladder Cancer (ABC) – a charity supporting people with bladder cancer – after their mum was diagnosed with, and successfully beat, the disease.
Hannah and Debbie have so far raised an incredible £2,900 for the charity. Lane End was very pleased to help in a small way towards achieving their goal.
Hannah, who admitted she actively disliked running prior to signing up to the London Marathon, went on to complete the tough 26-mile course in an impressive five and a half hours.
Speaking at the finish, Hannah said: “We did it! Thank you just isn’t enough, everyone has been more than amazing and there is no way we could have done it without your support and good wishes.
“My knees, hips and feet hurt beyond belief but it was so worth it!”
Heni Fourie, Sales and Marketing Manager at the meeting venue in Lane End, said: “Hannah trained really hard for the London Marathon. We were delighted to support her in her mission to raise funds and awareness of ABC’s important work.”
When not competing in gruelling marathons, Hannah is one of our fab team members at Lane End Conference Centre.
Situated outside London in leafy Bucks, the award-winning UK conference and meeting venue comprises eight fully equipped conference rooms, 24 meeting rooms and three dedicated dining rooms – all set in acres of green parkland.

Tired of sandpaper sandwiches and sticky finger food for your working lunch?
Well, at Lane End Conference Centre we’ve come up with the perfect solution – Bento Boxes. These neat, Japanese-style boxes comprise compartments filled with freshly prepared, tasty food options.
And when you’ve finished there’s no more messy plates and lingering smells to deal with – simply pop the lid back on, job done!
Bento boxes can be traced back to early 12th century Japan when the first dried rice meals were developed.
Today Bento is a big part of Japanese cuisine and is available to buy almost anywhere, from dedicated Bento shops to railway stations.
Bento has also evolved into a popular art form. Known as people ‘kyaraben’ (character bento) people go to painstaking lengths to create dishes resembling cartoon and video game characters.
Although we can’t promise to make your lunch in the shape of Sponge Bob, Lane End’s Bento boxes come packed with a delicious selection of fresh food, including:
• Tuna, salmon or vegetable sushi rolls
• Lightly spiced strips of succulent chicken, beef or fish
• Flavoured rice
• Fresh, crunchy vegetables and tangy pickles
And to complete your meal, each lunch box contains a tasty dessert.
Whether you’re planning a board meeting for 20 or a workshop for four, Lane End’s Bento boxes are a great way to satisfy without stopping work. Come and talk to us.
