Lane End Conference Centre has hosted a leading UK competition aimed at honing the leadership and team co-ordination skills of young construction industry professionals.
Buckinghamshire-based residential conference centre Lane End was the perfect venue for Teambuild because it could offer organisers of the contest exclusive use of its buildings.
That allowed the 70 contestants, judges and organisers to work on their construction design projects in complete privacy with no distractions.
Teambuild UK is a two-day cross-disciplinary construction contest with a track record dating back 22 years. It was launched to help improve communication between the construction professions.
Ten teams took part in this year’s event which began with a welcome dinner in The Pavilion, one of five self-contained conference venues at Lane End.
Day one saw the 10 teams working on their construction project masterplans, procurement control and risk strategies.
They were based within three newly-refurbished conference and training suites within Lane End’s Wycombe Hall and Wycombe Court buildings.
Each suite’s breakout rooms enabled the judges to deliberate in private - but still have easy access to the ongoing project work going on around them. Day one concluded with a gala dinner in The Pavilion.
Day two continued in Wycombe Hall and Wycombe Court with detailed design work, the announcement of finalists and press photoshoots before the closing awards ceremony in The Pavilion.
Teambuild spokesman Richard Hart said: “The event at Lane End Conference Centre went extremely well - we had a very positive experience.
“Everything worked well for us. We had some fairly specific meeting room needs that Lane End was able to cater for. The room sizes were ideal and the location just off the M40 made the venue easy to get to.
“The meeting rooms were well appointed, as were the bedrooms. The food was excellent - commented on by most of our delegates - and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive to our needs.
“We wanted for nothing. We will certainly be coming back to Lane End,” he added.
Lane End Sales and Marketing Manager Heni Fourie said: “We are delighted that the Teambuild event went so well and we look forward to welcoming them back in future years.”
