1864 – Charles Forgett, former Superintendent of Bombay police, purchases the 26-acre site in Lane End. Following his death the building becomes Wycombe Court School.
1960s – Wycombe Court School, famously attended by British actress Julie Christie, closes in 1965 and the land is acquired by HTS Management Consultants.
In 1969 HTS Management Consultants Ltd open Wycombe Centre for Management Studies - one of the first companies in the UK to provide purpose-built, residential conference facilities. The site comprises two buildings, Wycombe Hall and Wycombe Court.
1970s – The Centre is selected to host top events for some of the world’s biggest companies, including Bank of America, British Petroleum and McKinsey & Company.
In 1973 HTS Group establishes the Euro Japanese Exchange Foundation (EJEF), to deliver tailor-made English courses to professional students from Japan.
The Centre acquires neighbouring land and Wycombe Lodge, the third and most private residential conference building, opens in 1979.
1980s – Demand for off-site conference and training venues continues to grow. The Centre invests in amenities including, a 9-hole golf course, sports complex and pool.
1990s – As technology advances, the Centre becomes the first company to install specialised giant projectors and projector screens in its training rooms. It also acquires dial-up internet access when it becomes available in 1995.
In 1998, the fourth dedicated conference building ‘The Quadrangle’ opens, complete with large training room and six break-out rooms.
2000s – Further expansion provides a 140m2 outdoor team-building area and fitness trail.
The leisure centre is remodelled to become The Pavilion, a new prestigious wedding venue and event space.
In 2005 the Centre is renamed Lane End Conference Centre and a new look website is launched: www.lane-end-conferences.co.uk
2010s - Lane End Conference Centre opens one of the UK’s largest dedicated experiential learning centre facilities, providing over 20 different team-building activities.
In 2011, a rolling programme of refurbishment begins, including full structural renovation of 20 bedrooms, conference suites, dining areas and public spaces. An extension, conservatory and outside deck are added to Wycombe Lodge.
In 2012, installation of Grade A+ broadband enables superfast, reliable internet access and video conferencing across the site. Soon after, JATO Dynamics broadcast its 120-delegate event to colleagues in 47 countries.
Lane End Conference Centre - 45 Successful Years2014 – Lane End celebrates its 45th Anniversary and launches a new customer advocacy scheme. Meanwhile work begins on a new, double-storey leisure and fitness centre, ready to open in 2015.
