Award-winning Lane End Conference Centre has introduced a bake-off team challenge following the successful launch of its popular chocolate making activities.
The team at Lane End worked with professional chocolatier Paul Hargreaves from CoccoaCream to introduce a bake-off style team building activity.
The first hybrid chocolate-making and bake-off team event came from a specific client request.
Iris Capital’s Louise Rogers contacted the popular team building venue with a brief to provide baking activities to challenge her team and develop teamwork.
Paul Hargreaves said: “This event brief came shortly after the final of the Big British Bake-Off.
“Baking was on everyone’s minds and it was a great time to introduce a bake-off style challenge to the Lane End portfolio of indoor team building solutions.”
Lane End Events Executive Sophie Baggs and Paul met with Louise at the conference venue near High Wycombe to discuss a variety of options and create a bespoke event.
Sophie Baggs said: “The client was really interested in the chocolate-making idea and Paul was able to put together an exciting event that combined both the chocolate-making and bake-off elements in one team building challenge.”
Participants worked in groups to develop a brand, produce a range of truffles and a homemade tart, present their finished products and demonstrate a potential profit margin.
The winning team was awarded medals for its efforts and everyone enjoyed a few glasses of wine during the finale.

• Corporate Chocolate Making Challenge An apprentice-style challenge requiring teams to develop a brand, produce food products and demonstrate a profit margin.
• Informal Chocolate Making Classes An informative talk about the history and process of chocolate making, followed by a chocolate-tasting and fun truffle-making activity.
• The Lane End Bake-Off Challenge A carefully crafted challenge in which teams are required to produce three baked items for which they are judged on taste and presentation.

Lane End is the only venue of its kind with specialist training facilities in Bucks to also offer these in-house team building activities.
The conference venue recently achieved the maximum five stars in the Food Standards Agency’s Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
Lane End works exclusively with Paul Hargreaves to produce all its culinary team activities.
The Pavilion at Lane End provides a large function room with a dedicated kitchen. The venue also operates a further two kitchens and three dining rooms ideal for culinary team building activities.
The location and proximity of the kitchens in relation to the dining and meeting areas allows various organisations to hire a kitchen and meeting space for food-related events.
Heni said: “One of our regular clients often hires a kitchen and function room to prepare food and present new concepts to its marketing department in an exhibition-style layout.”
The Pavilion is also a popular wedding venue and a licensed venue for civil ceremonies.
The venue benefits from a beautiful garden gazebo and is one of the only wedding venues in the Home Counties licensed to perform outdoor weddings.
